In 2006, Mendy joined the Union Chapel Counseling Center and opened our Winchester office. She received a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from IU-East in 2005 and a Master's degree in Social Work from IUPUI in 2006. Mendy currently is working on a Doctorate in Social Work at IUPUI. She specializes in treating teens and adults with depression and anxiety. Mendy is also a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC).
Catherine Shumate, MA, LMHC
Licensed Mental Health Counselor
Catherine has been a counselor at Union Chapel Counseling Center since 2003. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Taylor University in 2002 and a Master's degree in Counseling from Ball State University in 2004. She specializes in marriage counseling and anxiety disorders/panic disorder. Catherine is also an AACC member.
Hannah Hughes, MA, LMFT, LAC
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Addictions Counselor
Hannah is a licensed marriage and family therapist who specializes in working with families, couples, and individuals with a variety of problems including trauma, divorce, addictions, relationship issues, anxiety, grief and loss. She has been a therapist since 2006 and joined the UC Counseling Center in 2010. Hannah earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Interpersonal Communications from Ball State University in 2005 and a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2007. She is a member of the AAMFT.
Angela Patterson, MA, Therapist
Mental Health Therapist
Angela has worked at Union Chapel since 2018. She attended Taylor University where she received her B.A., in Psychology. She later attended Agrosy University in Washington DC., where she earned her Master Degrees in Community Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Angela has earned her National Counselors Certification (NCC) and is working towards earning her LMHC. Using clinically tested and evidenced-based interventions, she enjoys working with children, teens, families, and individuals struggling to overcome a variety of problems. Her experience with Play Therapy, Christian Counseling, ABA and Trauma Based-CBT aid her in treating those with disabilities, mood disorders, trauma, and relationship issues.
Dawn Richman, MA, Therapist
Mental Health Therapist
Dawn Richman earned her Bachelor’s degree from Ball State University (2007) and her Master’s degree from Indiana Wesleyan University in Addictions Counseling (2016). She is licensed, eligible, and has worked in Community mental health before working for Union Chapel Counseling Center and The Jar Community Church. Dawn enjoys working with those that struggle with addictions and adolescent clients. Dawn is married to her husband of five years and they have one daughter. Dawn enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, writing, playing volleyball and being outdoors.
